Songs for Birds is a collection of improvised songs that we sang to each other at the kitchen table. Singing connects us as a species; it is one of the oldest forms of communicating and passing on stories. Birds extend their bodies into space through song, into what ornithologists call a “song territory”. Songs for Birds is about everyday life in our multispecies household – about conflicts and moments of happiness in the communal nest. Sometimes all together sometimes alternating (it’s my turn – now it’s your turn)- we sing in and about the space that we share.
